What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paver Operator position at Coastal Asphalt?
Overview
The paver operator is a position involving safe and skilled operation of asphalt paving equipment as well as various laborer duties. This position will operate alongside numerous crew members and under the direct daily supervision of a Foreman who provides guidance and feedback for all projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt paver, rollers, broom and skid steer. Perform related duties such as adding or removing screed extensions, installing or removing automatic devices, grade log etc.
- Ensure all workspaces remain clean and free of hazards and debris at all times
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Perform daily tasks assigned by crew leader and Foreman correctly and promptly
- Implement corrections given from crew leader and Foreman
- Unload and load materials and equipment prior to beginning each project and upon exiting the jobsite
- Report all injuries, accidents, regulatory violations, and safety concerns to crew leader or Foreman
- Perform pouring, smoothing, and setting of asphalt labor according to company and customer standards for quality and safety as needed
- Properly power off all equipment and ensure all tools are collected and securely fastened in company vehicles upon project completion

Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel to various job sites within South Carolina and surrounding areas if necessary (preferred)
- Must possess a driving record that meets company standards (if licensed)
- Must meet company employment requirements including but not limited to background checks
- Must agree to adhere to Drug-Free Workplace requirements including pre-employment, post-accident and random drug testing
- Must maintain a good attendance and safety record
- Must have the ability to carry and lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stoop, bend, reach with hands and arms, crouch and kneel as required
- Must be able to enter and exit equipment safely
