Essential Functions:
The purpose of this position is to teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. The following are the responsibilities of a Continuing Education Instructor:
- Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the subject area being taught.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedures.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Maintain passing rates for NCCER examinations.
- Facilitate hands-on, practical training and assessment when on-site.
- Tavel to designated training locations as scheduled.
- Set up mobile training stations for hands-on performance assessments.
- Conduct skills performance assessments following NCCER standards to assess student competency.
Job Responsibilities:
Ability to plan, coordinate, manage and direct a positive educational experience for students. Maintain required student records including attendance, grading, student progress, and other pertinent documentation.
Basic computer skills to communicate via email, input final student grades and input hours worked and conduct presentations as needed.
Other Duties:
The purpose of this position is to train students to have the knowledge to pass the NCCER Core written and performance testing to obtain a career in the construction industry.
- Demonstrate the proper and safe operation of all equipment used for performance assessments
- Coordinate with the NCCER testing system to ensure all online and practical assessments are recorded properly
- Ensure that all training and assessments align with NCCER’s policies and procedures
- Maintain proper safety protocols during hands-on training sessions
- Create engaging lessons that promote application of material
- Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Evaluate students to measure their progress
- Maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues
- Instruct students on the proper maintenance of tools and saws
Travel Requirements:
Will be required to travel to other locations.
Environment:
Work is performed at different locations. Must be able to complete the requirements of the job through loading and unloading trailers and must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
GED, High School Diploma
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Must be able to drive a truck and trailer
3 years experience in trades utilizing various power tools
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of work-related experience in the trades
Salary and Compensation:
