Essential Functions:
A Clinical Preceptor for the Radiologic Technology Program has an integral role in the success of Radiologic Technology Students. This person is involved in the formation and implementation of clinical and laboratory skills that are required of graduate technologists. This dedicated, experienced professional will help create a positive and rewarding clinical experience that promotes and fosters knowledge, skills, and ethical values of the profession. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in a diverse, multicultural student population while displaying a commitment to the community college philosophy of education are required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains knowledge of program mission and goals.
- Performs radiographic examinations with students in clinical environment.
- Understands clinical objectives, the clinical evaluation system, and the importance of evaluating students’ clinical competence.
- Provides students with clinical instruction and supervision.
- Participates in the assessment process.
- Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress and monitoring and enforces program policies and procedures.
- Fosters and maintains effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
Other Duties:
- Assists the Clinical Coordinator and staff technologists in accurate reporting of student performance evaluations.
- Understands different learning types.
Travel Requirements:
Attends meetings and events as required.
Environment:
The environment includes clinical setting and college atmosphere.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology, an active license provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Texas Medical Board (TMB), and at least two years of documented clinical experience in the professional discipline. Must be able to provide official transcripts and/if transcripts are earned from a foreign teaching institution, then must be able to provide an evaluation indicating that this education is equivalent to or beyond the qualifications required.
