Tutor Job Description:
Essential Functions:
Provide academic tutoring services to CBC students in subject area offered at CBC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tutor students individually or in a schedule group study session to review assignments, solve problems and review for exams.
Develop a tutoring plan for student upon review of textbooks and assignments; refers students to other agencies as appropriate.
Monitors student progress toward goals with an established tutor plan.
Maintain and updates confidential files and records ensuring that ethical and legal guideline are followed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
Records maintenance skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
Knowledge of tutorial/learning materials and instructional aids.
Knowledge of tutoring processes, policies and procedures.
Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans.
Travel Requirements:
Travel is required for this position. Must have valid driver's license, and auto insurance to travel to other locations to attend meetings/training. A personal vehicle is required if a CBC vehicle is not available. We encourage carpooling with other CBC employees.
Environment:
Work is performed under limited supervision in a typical office and/or classroom setting. Position may require working evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
Complete one full semester at CBC with at least a 3.0 GPA and at least one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Complete degree(s) from an accredited institution of higher education that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a yearly basis.
Ideal Qualifications:
Background and Experience/Expertise Details Contains 1 or more years related working experience in a higher education setting and experience in advising and experience in working with tutoring/mentoring programs.
