Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Coordinate VA referrals and authorizations.
- Attend all Accounts Receivable staff meetings.
- Manage high levels of stress.
- Other duties as assigned.
Works closely with the Conway Patient Representative to do the following:
- Greet and consult with all patients regarding insurance coverage and balances owed,
- Verify insurance benefits and notify appropriate personnel of changes,
- Answer patients’ questions regarding statements and balances,
- Work Patient Accounts Receivable Reports in a timely fashion while being both accurate and thorough,
- Review daily schedule to prepare Daily Report,
- Help patients with assistance and Medicaid applications,
- Communicate with patients regarding their outstanding balances to avoid placement with a collection agency,
- Work consistently to reduce outstanding patient accounts receivable,
- Identify and report potential credit balances to Refund Specialist in accordance with refund policy,
- Maintain confidentiality in regard to patient account status and the financial affairs of the company,
- Prepare accounts for financial assistance and for review by Board of Directors.
Works closely with Drug Assistance Representative to do the following:
- Consult with new and established patients who need financial assistance and provides assistance with applications.
- Contact patients as they are approved for financial/drug assistance.
- Work Drug Assistance reports timely, accurately and thoroughly.
- Communicate with Patient Representatives or Location Supervisors regarding patients who need financial assistance.
- Review co-payment/co-insurance accounts and prepare explanations of benefits for submission to co-pay/co-insurance companies.
- Follow up on outstanding co-pay assistance payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Post payments for patients receiving co-payment/co-insurance assistance.
- Maintain log for leftover medications.
- Maintain most up-to-date drug assistance/co-pay assistance applications and ensure they are used by appropriate staff.
- Identify problems with drug assistance in a timely manner and notify Accounts Receivable Coordinator.
- Maintain database of patients receiving assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma, Associates' degree or bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience: Two (2) to three (3) years experience preferably in a health care organization. Working knowledge of medical terminology.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type correspondence.
SKILLS:
- Skill in using computer programs and applications.
- Skill in using calculator.
