The Project :
The Accounting team is looking for a summer intern who will help us identifying, sourcing, analyzing, and compiling financial historical data from 1977 to present. As we prepare to celebrate CEI's 50th anniversary, we would like to present data that show CEI's long term financial impact on Maine and allow us to continue our work to focus on data-driven decisions, improved financial transparency, and accountability across this 50-year period.
The Experience :
You will work with the leadership in the Accounting and Finance team and will be responsible for sourcing, organizing, researching, compiling financial historical data. You will also work on analyzing data from the CEI audited financial statements and create reports, tables, graphs, and other analytics to illustrate trends. This project will allow you to sharpen your Excel skills, as well as improve your PowerBI acumen.
We partner with Maine Career Catalyst throughout the summer to offer networking and professional development activities to support your internship experience. Our interns also engage actively in all things CEI by participating in group activities with other interns, getting to learn what we do by meeting many people across the organization, attending staff meetings, community day of service, and staff outing. You are an accounting, finance, or business major.
You have knowledge in accounting software and financial reporting.
You have strong Excel skills that will allow you to create quality reports and analytics.

Other details :
This is a temporary, summer position with great opportunities to apply your classroom knowledge, learning, and professional growth. This internship is for actively enrolled students pursuing an associate degree or a bachelor's degree. The pay rate is $20 per hour with a starting internship date of Monday, June 2, 2025, and ending on Friday, August 8, 2025. We work on a hybrid model, two days in office (Tuesday & Thursday) and three days at home (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). This position is based in our Brunswick, ME office.
The CEI internship experience is designed to meet four core learning outcomes :
