GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Education Coach provides training, modeling, and curriculum support to ensure that Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms are meeting the highest level of quality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching & Training
- Visit HS/EHS classrooms at assigned centers daily to conduct coaching sessions that include on-site modeling and teacher observations of appropriate early educational practices and activities using the adopted coaching model.
- Establish rapport with teachers to provide a basis for the ongoing improvement of developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Model and observe best practices and strategies in all domains of the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Implement with fidelity the data-driven coaching model, including the use of reflective questioning to guide teachers to connect theory to daily practice.
- Communicate with Center Supervisors regarding teacher goals for improved performance.
- Coach teaching staff on TCC or CDA credentials.
- Provide verification visit for CDA credentialing.
- Facilitate teacher trainings at monthly Teacher Training Days and Pre-Service.
Curriculum Implementation
- Support teachers in implementing with fidelity the adopted curricula and the daily schedule.
- Model and observe curriculum implementation at various parts of the day and in different group settings.
Child Assessment & Learning Outcomes
- Support teachers in collecting and analyzing child assessment data that produce positive school readiness outcomes for children and that support children’s growth and development.
- Model and observe child data collection at various parts of the day and in different group settings.
- Make sure Checkpoints are completed on time for each child.
Learning & the Environment
- Support teachers in creating literacy-rich, developmentally appropriate, engaging learning environments.
- Obtain and maintain CLASS Observer certification in Infant, Toddler, and PreK.
- Support teachers in using teacher observation data to select focus areas and create goals for improved teaching practices that lead to improved child outcomes.
- Model and observe CLASS behavior markers during classroom visits.
- Evaluate classrooms using the CLASS teacher evaluation assessment.
- Support teachers and Center Supervisors in the use of ITERS, ECERS, and Creative Curriculum checklists.
Qualifications
- A baccalaureate in Early Childhood Education
- Become a PDS Specialist (CDA)within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to articulate, demonstrate, and train others concerning best practices in early childhood education
- Ability to motivate teachers to high levels of commitment and performance
- Ability to present in front of large group audiences
- Ability to establish relationships of mutual trust and respect with support staff, site coordinators and teaching staff
- Ability collaborate and communicate positively with other Head Start staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for children
- Knowledge of CLASS, Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, Teaching Strategies Gold, Hatch, ITERS, and ECERS
- Knowledge of governmental and educational standards set forth by the State of Georgia and any other agency to which the agency commits.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
