POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Weatherization Technician works under the direct supervision of the Weatherization Director. This position is responsible to conduct whole house weatherization and provide minor home repairs on approved homes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the completion of whole house weatherization according to work orders in a timely manner.
- Responsible to perform the installation of materials required to complete measures to properly weatherize units. These measures include but are not limited to attic and sidewall insulation utilizing batt insulation, installation of vapor barriers, storm doors, weatherstripping, vents, caulking, hot water heater blankets, pipe insulation, low-faucet aerators, compact fluorescent bulbs, etc.
- Responsible to operate blower door, accurately read and interpret results to check effectiveness of infiltration measures;
- Responsible to perform and assist lead reduction measures, as needed
- Responsible to complete prep work utilizing materials such as foam and caulk (including types such as fireproofing and regular) to seal baffles, wind tunnels, stuffing windows, joist spaces etc.
- Responsible for performing daily vehicle inspections and the completion of vehicle check sheets.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS OR JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training, Special Licenses: Completion of a high school diploma or GED. Minimum of one (1) year experience in carpentry, construction or related field. Must possess a valid Georgia Drivers License. Must have an acceptable MVR for a three year period. Must have an acceptable Criminal Background Check and pre employment drug screen.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry 30 to 50 pounds. The job also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard carpentry tools (hand-held and power) and requires normal range of vision and hearing or eye-hand coordination. Must be able to climb ladders and kneel/crawl for extended periods of time in small spaces, attic and under houses. Requires ability to drive cargo van with manual transmissions to and from surrounding counties.
Must be able to pass medical "full face shield" test.
