Job Purpose
Lab Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the laboratory operations including but not limited to laboratory personnel, laboratory testing, Company quality standards, laboratory safety. Manages all Laboratory personnel operations and safety at designated location. Laboratory Managers oversee laboratory testing and manages staff to help determine chemical or physical characteristics of samples.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide assistance to clients in explaining Laboratory analysis.
• Assume responsibility for authenticity for Laboratory Certificates of Analysis.
• Receive orders from clients on submitted samples; follow up on job progress and reports status to clients.
• Maintain thorough understanding of sampling techniques.
• Perform testing and analysis, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Manages Quality Control of laboratory solutions and standards.
• Maintain laboratory equipment necessary to service customer requirements at the location.
• This position is responsible for the management and supervision of employees and will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals.
• Ensure that the Quality Control of laboratory solutions and standards, are followed by quality standards.
• Oversees and manages the laboratory personnel time and attendance.
• Understands laboratory raw data sheets and oversee the accuracy entries into LIMS data base.
• Ensures that laboratory testing is performed and reported promptly and accurately in accordance with applicable standards.
• Assists Director of Laboratory Operations in local marketing efforts when needed.
• Ability to read and comprehend all analysis as well as safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
• Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
• All other duties assigned by management.
Other Duties

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work
experience; coupled with a minimum of (5) years of direct transferable experience
working in a laboratory.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a staff.
• Excellent time management skills which includes the ability to work on multiple projects
concurrently, while achieving different deadlines.
• Laboratory experience in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry are preferred.
• Must be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products.
• Proficient in ASTM standards.
• Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
• Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access preferred.
• Have a great work history with a track record of being responsible individual.
• Detailed orientated.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of
management.
• Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment.

• May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
