Key Responsibilities:
-
Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and recording medical histories, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of visits or treatments.

Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations, prepare lab specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.

Sterilize medical instruments, administer medications as directed, authorize prescription refills, and communicate with pharmacies.

Perform tasks such as drawing blood, preparing patients for x-rays, taking electrocardiograms (EKGs), removing sutures, and changing dressings.

Educate patients on medication, diet, and treatment instructions, while addressing any questions they may have.

Record patient examination, treatment, and test results in medical records.

Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking with colleagues.

Contribute to the practice’s success by accepting new challenges and exploring opportunities to add value to the role.

Perform a combination of front and back-office tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. A medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college course in medical assisting is preferred.

Certification: Medical Assistant certification is preferred but not required. Current CPR certification and up-to-date health records (including hepatitis B and tuberculosis immunizations) are required.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience working as a medical assistant in a medical facility. Experience with Athena EMR is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:

Must have experience performing electrocardiograms (EKG), taking vital signs, venipuncture, capillary and intramuscular injections.

Strong multitasking abilities to handle both front and back office duties in a fast-paced primary care setting.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.

Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of completed Medical Assistant externship. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
Other Requirements: Current documentation of medical assistant certification. Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
