Position: Full-Time Medical Assistant
Coastal Health is seeking a motivated and career-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both clinical and administrative tasks, including assisting physicians with patient care and supporting clerical, environmental, and organizational functions. Responsibilities:
- Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of their visit or treatment.
- Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory tests as required.
- Dispose of contaminated supplies, sterilize medical instruments, and administer medications on-site.
- Authorize drug refills as directed and manage prescription phone orders.
- Draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms (EKGs), remove sutures, and change dressings.
- Educate patients on medication and diet instructions, providing answers to questions as needed.
- Record patient examinations, treatments, and test results accurately.
- Participate in educational opportunities, keep up with professional publications, and stay engaged in professional organizations.
- Enhance the reputation of the healthcare practice by exploring opportunities to add value and embracing new and different requests.
- Perform both front-office and back-office medical assistant duties as required.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or community college course in medical assisting.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current health records with required immunizations (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
- Medical Assistant certification preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in a medical facility as a Medical Assistant.
- Experience with Athena software is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in performing EKGs, taking vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and intramuscular injections.
- Ability to multitask and handle both front and back-office duties in a fast-paced primary care setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
