Responsibilities:

Patient Interaction: Verify patient information by conducting interviews, reviewing and recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment.

Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers during examinations, prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic in-office lab tests, dispose of contaminated supplies, sterilize medical instruments, administer medications, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, perform electrocardiograms (EKG), remove sutures, and change dressings.

Patient Education: Provide medication and dietary information, answer patient questions, and ensure patients understand their treatment plans.

Documentation: Record patient examinations, treatments, and test results to maintain accurate medical records.

Professional Development: Stay current with job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, personal networking, and involvement in relevant organizations.

Qualifications:

Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. Current medical assistant certification is preferred but not required. Must hold a current CPR certification and have updated health records with required immunizations (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).

Experience: At least three years of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant. Experience with Athena Health software is preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Must have current experience in electrocardiograms (EKG), vital sign measurement, venipuncture, capillary and intramuscular injections. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask effectively in both front and back-office duties in a fast-paced primary care setting.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of completed Medical Assistant externship. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
Other Requirements: Current documentation of medical assistant certification. Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
