Coastal Health is currently searching for a motivated Pre-Op Pacu RN to join our growing Point Meadows team.

The Pre-Op/PACU RN has the responsibility to plan, coordinate and implement all nursing care services for pre-op and post-surgical patients. Nurses work within both pre-op holding and a post-anesthesia care unit, where patients are cared for and monitored as they recover from the effects of anesthesia. Responsibilities include all aspects of patient care prior to and following surgery. This care includes monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and respiration, as well as managing the pain and nausea that often follow anesthesia.
Responsibilities:
Lives the DREAM values.
Admits, transfers, and discharge of patients.
Completes ongoing patient assessment and documents according to policy.
Participates in the development of patient plan of care to include patient problems, goals, evaluations and interventions.
Reports symptoms and significant changes in patients condition to appropriate personnel immediately.
Assesses, collaborates and coordinates patients discharge planning needs and readiness for discharge with other members of the care team.
Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for adult and geriatric patients.
Demonstrates proficient IV setting skills.
Follows age specific standards in administering medications based on patients age.
Follows age specific standards of care during altered states of consciousness related to analgesia, conscious sedation or anesthesia. Adheres to accepted sterilization/processing policies and procedures.
Works with other team members to maintain surgical and anesthesia inventory levels and accurate records.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
At least two (2) years experience as pre-op/PACU RN in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting.
Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in the State of Florida.
BLS & ACLS Certifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Frequent overhead and low reaching and bending. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand for long periods, and to exert a force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up-to 10 lbs. constantly. All patient care activities may require the ability to exert a force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely. Ability to assist with the transport of patients, and supplies in and out of the surgical area as needed. Ability to perform Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation if indicated.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to blood-borne pathogens, exposure to chemical and/or radiation hazards.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years required
EDUCATION & LICENSE:
BLS and ACLS Certification (Required)
Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)
Bachelors (Preferred)
