Coastal Health is currently searching for a motivated Scrub Tech to join our growing Point Meadows location.

Prepares instruments and supplies to perform surgical procedures. Assists the surgeon during the operative procedures. Maintains safe and appropriate utilization of supplies and equipment. Assists with inventory management for surgery and anesthesia supplies. Performs central processing functions
Responsible for ensuring all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized and documented in a timely manner. Performs daily quality control tests. Ensures that these responsibilities are carried out according to established directions designated in procedure manual. Functions as a team member, supporting department activities providing for optimal instrument and equipment processing. Functions as a patient advocate. Responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a surgical or sterile tech two-year program.
Experience in a multi-specialty surgical environment is preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Requires high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Frequent overhead and low reaching and bending. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand for long periods, and to exert a force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up-to 10 lbs. constantly. All patient care activities may require the ability to exert a force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely. Ability to assist with the transport of patients, and supplies in and out of the surgical area as needed. Ability to perform Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation if indicated.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Category I exposure to blood-borne pathogens, exposure to chemical and/or radiation hazards.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year (Preferred Minimum)
EDUCATION & LICENSE:
Graduation from a surgical or sterile tech two-year program. Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist. (CST)
Experience in a scrub role in a multi-specialty surgical environment is preferred.
