Job Title : Assistant Director of Nursing - Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP)
Job Summary : The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the clinical and administrative operations of nursing services within opioid treatment facilities. The Assistant Director of Nursing ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance treatment outcomes for patients in recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD).
Location : Wilmington, NC (Headquarters) Regular Travel to Pender and Brunswick
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the Director of Nursing in managing and supervising the nursing staff across opioid treatment programs, detention facilities, to include induction services.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients in accordance with evidence-based practices, OTP regulations, and Coastal Horizons policies.
- Assist the Director of Nursing to oversee daily nursing operations, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services, methadone and buprenorphine administration.
- Monitor nursing documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with regular audits of clinical practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and treatment protocols.
- Provide mentorship and training to nursing staff, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices in addiction treatment and reducing stigma.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and evaluating nursing staff, ensuring proper staffing levels for optimal patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with medical directors and clinical teams and huddles to address complex cases, patient emergencies, and challenges related to opioid dependency.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA, DEA, and SAMHSA guidelines for OTPs.
- Serve as a point of contact for patient concerns and grievances related to nursing services, addressing issues with compassion and professionalism and reporting same to Director of Nursing.
- Travels to the different sites when it is indicated to assist with coverage and supporting staff

Working Conditions : This role may require working in various clinical environments and interacting with patients in different stages of recovery. Flexibility in scheduling, including potential weekend or evening shifts, may be required to meet patient and program needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS :
Approximate % of Time :
50 % Clinical Leadership, and Supervision : Manages, supervises staff, provides direct patient care as it relates to program services prn, oversees daily nursing operations.
25 % Assists Nursing Director with scheduling nursing personnel for SA / MH Treatment operations and supervises daily activities of the dispensary. Assists with training and monitoring the provision of patient care. Monitors and ensures adequate inventories of required medical services supplies.
10 % Regulatory Compliance : Documents and ensures accurate record keeping of all controlled substances monitors compliance with all State and Federal regulations, reports deficiencies as necessary to appropriate source. Generates statistical / regulatory reports as needed
10 % Teamwork and Collaboration : Works closely with Nursing Director, Medical Director, Administrative and Clinical team to address organizational and patient care needs.
5 %_Patient Advocacy and Relations : Serve as a point contact for patient concerns and grievances.
