Description
Rogers Building Solutions, Coastal Mechanical Florida business unit, is one of the largest mechanical contractors in the Southeast and is currently seeking a Commercial jobsite Sheet Metal Superintendent to work in the Boca Raton Fl area. Work is primarily in the healthcare, educational, industrial and Government sectors. This role is imperative for ensuring the successful execution of commercial sheet metal projects, balancing technical, managerial, and operational aspects to ensure efficiency and success. Vehicle allowance and gas card are included
- if you qualify. This is a safety sensitive position.
Requirements
Requirements and Responsibilities :
1. Project Oversight and Coordination :
Supervise and manage sheet metal crews, ensuring proper execution of work according to plans and specifications.Coordinate the installation of HVAC systems, ductwork, roofing, siding, and other sheet metal components.Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other contractors to ensure timely completion of tasks and resolution of issues.2. Quality Control :
Ensure work is completed in accordance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.Inspect finished work to ensure that it meets both aesthetic and functional standards.Review and approve sheet metal installation methods and materials.3. Budget and Resource Management :
Monitor labor costs, materials, and time allocations to maintain project budgets.Order and manage the procurement of materials and tools, ensuring timely delivery to avoid project delays.Schedule and allocate resources effectively, including manpower and equipment.4. Safety and Compliance :
Enforce safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all crew members.Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety standards.Address any hazards or safety concerns that arise on the job site.5. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting :
Resolve technical issues that arise during the installation and fabrication of sheet metal systems.Troubleshoot and resolve any conflicts or discrepancies related to the design or installation process.6. Training and Mentorship :
Train and mentor junior sheet metal workers, helping them develop skills and expertise in the trade.Provide guidance on best practices, safety procedures, and efficient work techniques.7. Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, work performed, and materials used.Prepare and submit progress reports to project managers and other stakeholders.Track project milestones and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of each phase of work.8. Client and Stakeholder Communication :
Serve as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding sheet metal work.Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and ensure their expectations are met.Address any concerns or changes from clients promptly to maintain satisfaction and smooth project flow.Qualifications : 1. Education :
High School Diploma or GED : This is the minimum educational requirement.Vocational Training : A background in sheet metal work, welding, HVAC systems, or similar technical training preferred2. Work Experience :
Industry Experience : A minimum of 5-10 years of experience working in the sheet metal industry, with at least 2-5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Hands-On Experience : Proven experience with sheet metal fabrication, installation, and system design is essential.Project Management Experience : Familiarity with managing large commercial projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and troubleshooting preferred3. Technical Skills :
Sheet Metal Fabrication : Knowledge of manufacturing, shaping, and joining sheet metal for commercial installations.HVAC Systems : Experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems, ductwork, and related components.Blueprint Reading : Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications for sheet metal and HVAC installations.Mathematical and Measurement Skills : Strong understanding of measurements, angles, and calculations required in sheet metal work.Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to troubleshoot issues during installation and fabrication.4. Certifications (Optional, but Preferred ) :
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification : A must-have for ensuring safety compliance on job sites.Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker Certification : Certification as a journeyman or a master sheet metal worker may be required, depending on local regulations or the company's policies.HVAC Certification : Certification in HVAC systems or other relevant areas could be beneficial for projects involving HVAC system installations.First Aid / CPR Certification : While not always required, some employers may prefer this for added safety on job sites.5. Soft Skills :
Leadership and Team Management : Strong supervisory skills and the ability to lead and motivate teams of sheet metal workers.Communication : Clear communication skills in English for interacting with clients, contractors, and team members.Time Management : Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple aspects of a project, and meet deadlines.Attention to Detail : Precision in ensuring that work is performed to the highest quality standards.6. Other Qualifications :
Clean and Valid Driver's License : Required for traveling between job sites.Knowledge of Local Building Codes : Familiarity with local building and safety codes specific to sheet metal work.Technology Proficiency : Ability to use construction management software, scheduling tools, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams).Essential Functions :
