Pharmacy Technician - Compounding Pharmacy
We are looking for a dynamic pharmacy technician to join our award-winning team. Experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Regular days of work are Monday - Friday, but Saturdays may be required periodically. We're open from 9 am to 6 pm. Your regular hours will be sometime within those parameters.

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician performs a variety of technical and precise duties relating to medication preparation, storage, and distribution. The position requires an ability to interpret pharmaceutical terminology, including a wide variety of chemical compound names, frequency, available dosage forms, and respond to prescriber inquiries that do not require pharmacist input.

Being a small business means that all staff members must be willing to perform a variety of tasks as needed. Applicants must have the desire and ability to “wear multiple hats.”

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet in-store customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service.
• Field phone calls from patients and practitioner offices.
• Make initial and follow-up phone calls to patients.
• Explain CPW services and answer customer and provider questions that do not require a pharmacist.
• Help prepare prescriptions by counting or pouring medications, labeling containers, and pricing prescriptions.
• Process insurance claims and follow up on issues or rejected claims when necessary.
• Assist in data entry of MPP information.
• Understand and follow Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
• Order and maintain inventory through the proper wholesaler.
• Assist in keeping inventory free from outdated products and process the outdates and credits.
• Share in responsibility for department appearance, presentation, and cleanliness.
• Maintain pharmacy department supplies, e.g., bottles, bags, labels, staples, etc.
• Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong math skills are a must.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications. Familiarity with pharmacy management software is a plus.
• Effective time management skills and a sense of urgency.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective interpersonal skills and desire to work in a close team environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Good problem-solving abilities, ability to focus in a busy environment, and high attention to detail.
• Exercise high levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Be willing to work Saturdays when necessary (does not happen often).*

Physical Requirements

• Stand up to 100% of the time with occasional walking short distances.
• Use a computer for most of your workday.
• Use hands to frequently/continuously handle a variety of sizes of containers then manipulate individual pills/capsules and the equipment used to count them.
• Clerical accuracy skills and mathematical skills including the ability to operate a cash register.
• Frequent/continuous reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying up to 20 lb. below the waist level and at or above shoulder level.
• Bend at the knees and waist repetitively up to 30% of the workday.
• Have enough visual acuity and audio capability to complete required work tasks.

• Pharmacy Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
