Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to fill the position of Restaurant Host in our busy establishment. The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting guests, escorting them to their tables, communicating reservation special requests to servers, and ensuring that the start of their dining experience is exceptional.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests promptly with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Manage the reservations and waitlist efficiently, accurately notifying guests of their table availability.
- Escort guests to their assigned tables and ensure that they are comfortable.
- Communicate with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth seating and service transitions.
- Maintain a clean and organized host stand and lobby area.
- Answer phone calls, respond to guest inquiries, and provide accurate information about menu items, specials, and promotions.
- Monitor the dining room to ensure that all guests are receiving timely and efficient service.
- Assist with seating large groups and special events.
- Handle guest complaints promptly, while alerting the service staff and management, in order to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and promotions to provide accurate information to guests.
- Uphold restaurant policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, at all times.
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a hostess or in a customer service-related role is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours - specifically evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work in a elevated-dining environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Proficient in basic computer skills.
- Previous experience with Open Table and Toast a plus.
