Responsibilities
Your Role:
As a Waste Collection Driver Helper, you will team with a Driver to assist in the collection of waste and recyclable material.
- Assist the Driver in the collection of waste and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial sites
- Ensure waste is properly sorted and loaded into the collection vehicle
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Communicate with the driver and other team members to ensure efficient route completion
- Handle customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements
- Report any issues or incidents to the driver or supervisor promptly
- Must be able to consistently lift, push, and pull bags and receptacles that weigh 50-75 pounds
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety
- Valid driver’s license preferred but not required
- Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish or Creole)
