Job Summary
All drivers operate in a fast-paced environment, running daily routes with frequent stops. They must load packages onto hand trucks and unload product at each stop on the assigned route, following the designated order provided by the Transportation Department Manager.
Drivers work efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Unload product from trailers, using hand carts as needed, and place it in designated customer storage areas.
- Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain signatures.
- Contact management for authorization when discrepancies are found on invoices.
- Communicate all errors and returns to the relevant parties.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience:
- One-year experience in route delivery or driving a straight truck.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred.
- Ability to read and understand English is mandatory.
Skills:
- Operate vehicles in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the company.
- Develop strong customer relations and problem-resolution skills.
- Effectively plan and organize work activities independently.
- Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
- Proven ability to communicate articulately and perform simple arithmetic.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent lifting of product up to 50 lbs. during shifts.
- Infrequent lifting of up to 80 lbs.
- Must be able to climb on and off the truck box.
- Frequent bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
