Position Overview
The Machine Monitoring Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring Coastline Equipment’s fleet operates with minimal downtime and optimal performance. Based at our Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA, or in North Las Vegas, NV, this position is responsible for monitoring, distributing, and tracking all telematics-related data, Expert Alerts, and JDLink™ Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Using remote diagnostic tools, the Machine Monitoring Specialist will identify and resolve potential equipment issues promptly, working closely with internal teams and customers to keep projects on track and maintain peak equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Telematics Data Monitoring: Track incoming Expert Alerts and DTCs, ensuring they are distributed to the relevant team members or directly contacting customers when necessary.
- Remote Diagnostics: Utilize Service ADVISOR™ Remote and Remote Display Access (RDA) to perform remote diagnostics and quickly identify potential issues with equipment.
- Communication & Documentation: Provide clear, actionable summaries of diagnostics and recommendations to stakeholders, maintaining detailed work orders with remote diagnostic information for future reference.
- Technical Knowledge Maintenance: Keep up-to-date with the latest engine, hydraulic, and electrical system schematics and repair manuals to ensure accurate diagnostics and recommendations.
- Team Collaboration: Build and maintain a positive and professional relationship with peers, management, and support teams, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and customer service.
- Continuous Development: Engage in Factory Certified Capstone Training programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
- Additional Duties: Occasionally serve as a Certified Dealer Instructor (CDI) and Technical Communicator, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3 years of service repairs and diagnostics experience, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems (experience with construction, lawn, or heavy equipment is preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems and diagnostic tools; experience with Deere systems is highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to both individuals and groups, both in writing and verbally.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Core Competencies: A demonstrated commitment to safety, a professional demeanor, and an ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with agricultural and turf equipment, particularly in a dealership or service-oriented setting.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems found in off-road or heavy construction equipment.
- Certifications from John Deere or other industry leaders are a strong asset.
Work Environment
- Location: This is an office-based position with minimal travel requirements.
- Physical Requirements: The position involves regular phone communication, occasional climbing on and off equipment, and the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work Environment: The typical environment is moderately active, with exposure to a range of indoor conditions.
Reporting Structure
The Machine Monitoring Specialist reports directly to the Machine Monitoring Manager. They will also collaborate closely with Service Technicians, Sales Representatives, and other support teams to provide the best possible service to our customers.
