Position Overview: The Sales Representative in our Sacramento, CA location will drive new and used equipment sales within an assigned territory. By building strong client relationships, the Sales Representative will support both new and existing customers, offering tailored solutions that enhance productivity and meet project needs. This role also includes the sale of bare rental equipment, positioning Coastline Equipment as a valued partner for construction companies, contractors, and operators in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Representation: Represent Coastline Equipment for the sale of machinery within a defined territory, focusing on cranes, boom trucks, industrial equipment, and aerial platforms.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment features and benefits, staying informed about all products offered by the dealership to guide customer decision-making effectively.
  • Market Insight: Monitor competitive activity within the territory and provide timely feedback to management regarding market trends and competitive offerings.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain comprehensive customer information and profiles, managing territory-based data to support sales goals and client relationship development.
  • Territory Coverage and Outreach: Conduct regular job site and office visits, make cold calls, and proactively build relationships with customers to drive new business and cultivate loyalty.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain assigned company vehicle and any equipment, ensuring all tools and resources are in optimal condition for customer interactions and territory coverage.
  • Closing Sales: Demonstrate strong negotiation and closing skills, focusing on selling value to meet customer needs and close sales effectively.
  • Financial Solutions: Stay current with financing options, assisting customers with securing financing for new and used equipment purchases when needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of equipment sales experience, preferably in the construction or industrial equipment sectors.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment and best practices in operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general internet functions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer needs and territory demands.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze sales reports to support territory management.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with crane equipment sales or knowledge of heavy machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships effectively.
  • Proven organizational and strategic planning skills to manage a sales territory.

Work Environment:

  • This role is field-based, with significant time spent visiting job sites, offices, and client locations within the assigned territory.
  • Regular travel required within the Sacramento, CA area, with occasional travel to neighboring regions for business development.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the Sales Manager.
  • Works closely with dealership team members, including Parts Specialists, Service Technicians, and the administrative team, to ensure cohesive customer support and seamless operations.
