Overview
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will oversee all quality control activities within the production and laboratory operations. The role involves ensuring compliance with HACCP and SQF standards, conducting inspections, and collaborating closely with the production team to identify and resolve quality-related issues. The ideal candidate will have strong food industry experience, proven leadership capabilities, and bilingual communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
Duties
- Supervise and lead quality assurance technicians and auditors.
- Act as the QA Manager in their absence, overseeing all quality-related activities.
- Review and ensure compliance with quality documentation from previous shifts.
- Communicate product deficiencies, hold logs, and maintain accurate quality documentation.
- Collaborate with other department supervisors on quality, maintenance, and production issues.
- Report on key quality metrics (first pass quality, SSOP, GMP, customer complaints).
- Conduct inspections in critical plant areas and supervise special inspections for incoming materials and finished products.
- Monitor packaging lines for weight control, metal detection, and product integrity.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives and staff training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in the food industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- HACCP and SQF certification required.
- Bilingual required for effective communication across teams.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); knowledge of Access is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex situations and communicate solutions effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to work and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
