Job Description

CoBank is looking for an Associate Principal Full Stack Software Engineer with an emphasis on data engineering who is passionate about technology and has a solid history of addressing complex business issues. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and values inclusivity. As an Associate Principal Engineer at CoBank, you will be responsible for developing ingestion / consumption data pipelines / services, and facilitating automation of large-scale data ETL and analytics. We work directly with business teams and platform and engineering teams to ensure growth strategies at CoBank. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the timely delivery of top-notch data and software products while maintaining a high standard of quality. Key responsibilities include assisting in the design and development of CoBank's new and existing applications using React, Node, AWS, and Containerization, ensuring quality through test automation with Playwright, and providing production support. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in these technologies and the ability to meaningfully contribute to a team delivering modern solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the design, implementation and automation of highly scalable data pipelines and ETL processes. Collaborates with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain data and analytics pipelines using Python, SQL, Terraform, Open-Source databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
  • Help optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms, leveraging cloud-native solutions.
  • Assist in data governance, quality, and metadata management initiatives.
  • Assist in team management and cross-team coloration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote innovation within the team.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on data initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or a related field required

Work Experience

6 years of experience in software engineering (front-end, back-end development, data engineering) required

3 years of experience with React, Typescript and Node, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud required

4 years in python programming and open-source frameworks required

3 Years Experience In Agile Practices Required

4 years of experience in data engineering, data modeling preferred

4 Years Of Experience In Process Automation Preferred

Prior Experience in microservices architecture and container-based orchestration technologies including, Kubernetes and Docker preferred

Prior Experience Building RESTful And GraphQL Apis Preferred

Prior Experience building self-service tooling and platforms preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript, CSS, React and Node.
  • Advanced knowledge of testing frameworks and strategies such as Vitest, Testing Library and Playwright.
  • Significant experience with public cloud, primarily AWS, as well as with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, etc).
  • Solid knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to support complex solution implementations. Advanced technical, analytical and problem-solving skills that enhance working with problems that are complex and often unique. Ability to maintain flexibility and resilience when working in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills. Advanced organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deliver commitments while juggling multiple projects and priorities. Ability to work effectively under deadline pressures, and adjust quickly and effectively to changing priorities.
  • Solid knowledge of software development life cycle and related methodologies like Scaled Agile Framework.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $131,100 - $161,300. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
