Job Description

Develops, implements, and retains accountability for the development strategy of the bank's cash management products, services and digital channels. Develops, implements and retains accountability for all Product P&L and the profitability of the business unit. Conducts outreach to the bank's affiliated and non-affiliated associations and other customers in order to assess their requirements for product functionality and translates that market intelligence into an actionable product strategy. Assesses the bank's full range of commercial services capabilities and operating environment in order to create a product strategy that is complementary of the bank's distribution channels and markets served. Interacts with and provides support to CoBank relationship management and the Cash Management Solutions (CMS) team, as well as association and other Farm Credit System (FCS) partners, to ensure the successful implementation of the cash management product strategy. Leads a team focused on developing and actively managing CoBank's suite of cash management products and services throughout the lifecycle of the product suite, and in line with the strategic direction of the CMS team. Works directly with compliance, CoBank Agile teams (Experience and Technology), marketing, sales, implementation, and operations to ensure success of the product suite, and product development and enhancement. Manages a team responsible for the development of analytical, financial and reporting tools and processes for existing digital banking and cash management functions. Leverages data and analytics to identify opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements designed to improve financial analysis and business insights within the CMS group. Is also responsible for building and maintaining financial modeling for product profitability, building and managing the budget for the business unit.

Essential Functions

  • Defines and implements the product management vision and strategy for cash management products, services and digital channels.
  • Develops, defines and oversees the product roadmap. Prioritizes product enhancements and changes. Sets pricing, product and service placement strategy for CoBank’s cash management and eCommerce offerings and ensures product profitability.
  • Together with Vendor Management function, manages vendor relationships with service providers for CMS and FCS users of CoBank’s cash management and eCommerce products and services. Represents the business line to negotiate and monitor pricing and contracts, and ensures efficient and timely delivery of services.
  • Collaborates with division leadership and other bank stakeholders to gain consensus on product strategy and delivery. Contributes to overall bank management through participation in the development of strategic and operating objectives and plans.
  • Leads the day-to-day activities of the CMS product management, and analytics areas.
  • Conducts research and analysis on products and product trends, and analyzes market trends to identify customer requirements. Serves as the subject matter expert.
  • Prepares and presents executive summaries of ideas and plans to executive leadership and other stakeholders to ensure visibility, and gain consensus and support for product management and CMS vision and strategy.
  • Responsible for providing management and leaders progress and status updates, advising on key decisions, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Manages CMS product management, and marketing functions. Sets performance standards, manages workflow, grants authorities, evaluates performance, provides coaching/mentoring, and recommends personnel actions within delegated authorities. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Oversees the development of ongoing monthly reporting delivered to business partners.
  • Partners with CoBank Agile development teams, Experience and Product (ExPO) and Technology, Data and Innovation (TDI) teams to ensure CMS products are developed to meet both customer and bank needs. CMS Product team will act as the domain experts and provide subject matter expertise.
  • Stays informed on market changes and trends, new products, product development and product technology.
  • Participates in special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, marketing, or other relevant discipline required
  • Master's Degree and/or Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) preferred

Work Experience

  • 12 years of progressive responsibility and experience in a product management role required
  • 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience
  • Stays informed on market changes and trends, new products, product development and product technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of and proven product management success with cash management products and digital delivery channels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects. Capable of injecting forward momentum to drive projects forward, while identifying risk areas, proactively determining appropriate mitigation strategies, managing project obstacles and presenting alternatives for issue resolution.
  • Experience in the replacement of an online banking system, and with FIS software/services preferred.
  • Demonstrated teambuilding and management skills, with the ability to effectively facilitate and positively motivate teams to instill accountability and cooperation, and manage performance.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, integrity and ethics, with the ability to exercise influence cross-functionally, work collaboratively and build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of leadership, team members, Farm Credit System partners, external vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS Project, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experience in the Farm Credit System, financial services, lending/leasing business, agribusiness, communications and energy companies, international, and/or cooperatives preferred.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $211,200 - $259,800. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
