CobbFendley is seeking an entry level Utility Project Engineer  in our Frisco, Texas office.

EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA) 

Intermediate // Developing skills with some practical experience; able to perform tasks with assistance. 1 years of professional experience, EIT may be required.

  • Knowledge of standard engineering and scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks. Familiarity with CobbFendley’s QA/QC Management System.
  • Skills including use of industry-standard computer software for the position (i.e., software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Design Analysis // 
    1. Complete simple design and analysis tasks using determined software and criteria, under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
    2. Think independently to complete assigned work, exercise limited judgment on details of work and in the application of engineering practices. 
  2. Compliance Quality // 
    1. Utilize Company QA/QC processes and procedures to review tasks and documents.
  3. Communication Collaboration // 
    1. Work with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments within discipline and limited other disciplines.
  4. Training, Learning Advancement // 
    1. Utilize formal education and practical experience in assignments. 
    2. May attend internal or external training. 
    3. May assist with onboarding and entry level training of Graduate Engineer I.
  5. Client Internal Satisfaction // 
    1. Work with internal clients daily and escalate concerns when needed. 
    2. May attend client meetings.
  6. Technical //
    1. Support CobbFendley Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design tasks for various franchise utility projects and systems.
    2. Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects.
    3. Regularly interacts with clients, customers, contractors, and developers.
    4. Represent CobbFendley at client meetings and perform client communication.
    5. Visit job sites, client offices, municipalities, and other agencies as needed.
    6. Coordinate field investigations.
    7. Perform independent research and adapt changing priorities.
    8. Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free. 
    9. Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
    10. Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

PHYSICAL COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

  • Seated and Standing Position. Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation.
  • Mobility. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors, workstations, and outdoor environments with potential for uneven surfaces.
  • Neck Movement. Forward flexion, extension, or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens.
  • Repetitive Motion. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard.
  • Arm Movement. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally.
  • Object Handling. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder.
  • Cognitive Requirements. Selective attention, oral comprehension, oral expression, speech recognition, speech clarity, written comprehension, written expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, number facility, information ordering, category flexibility, flexibility of closure, fluency of ideas, and originality.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Work Environment. Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and outdoor environments for observations will be required. 
  • Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Additionally, tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.
  • Outdoor Conditions. Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures), noise, and exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy).
  • Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with handling electric power tools, cutting tools, plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter, and other equipment.
  • Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers, potentially operating watercraft, and for extended periods of time.
  • Noise and Allergens. Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens, including poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, and cedar.
  • Wildlife Hazards. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals, insects, and plants.


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST/local time zone.

This position may include the need for overtime hours.
