CRIMINAL/PERSONAL INJURY PARALEGAL JOB DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
The Criminal/Personal Injury Paralegal assists attorneys in managing cases by performing a variety of legal tasks. This position coordinates case deadlines, schedules meetings, hearings, depositions, and assists with the client intake process. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced legal environment. This role reports directly to the Criminal/Personal Injury Division Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a paralegal with a background in personal injury and/or criminal law.
- Strong knowledge of criminal and personal injury legal procedures, terminology, and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software (Smokeball preferred).
- Ability to perform legal research and draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
- Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and attorneys.
- Ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist attorneys in managing both criminal and personal injury cases, ensuring all case files are organized and up to date.
- Maintain a detailed calendar of important case deadlines, hearings, depositions, and appointments.
- Gather and organize evidence, medical records, police reports, and witness statements etc., ensuring all information is accurate and updated.
- Conduct legal research, drafting and filing of legal documents.
· Point of contact for clients, witnesses, and experts, providing updates, gathering information, and addressing inquiries related to case status.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
