Job Description
Location: Kentucky Hatchery, Monticello, KY
Schedule: Any combination Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ocassionally Saturday, if needed. Egg pick-ups are typically Sunday and Wednesday (pick-ups are not to be completed before the lights come on in the chicken houses). Additional assignments include transporting adult birds from grow houses to lay houses, delivering birds from Strawberry Hill to out of state processing plants, transporting vehicles to the Ryder shop for repair and OTR trips hauling eggs or empty racks to other Cobb facilites or baby chicks to customers.
Hours: Work schedule is based upon Production & Delivery Schedule needs.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for washing and disinfecting trucks, loading and unloading eggs, moving egg buggies and safely transporting eggs from farms to hatchery. Loading and unloading chicks, safelty transporting chicks to customer according to time on delivery schedule. Safe transport of Cobb's adult birds between contract farms. Other duties assigned according to Production and Delivery schedules.
Minimum Requirements
Must have a Class A CDL with a clean safety record and one year driving experience in a Class A Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Drives truck over designated route to pick up hatching eggs from local farms and deliver to local hatchery (30%)
Maintains egg inventory record, records egg deliveries. (5%)
QA Location: Showering plus donning & doffing uniforms. Cleans and disinfects trucks, modules, equipment & wash area. (10%)
Timely delivery of Cobb chicks to customers in the US and Canada. (25%)
Loading and Transporting Cobb products from one farm to another. (25%)
Active participation in driver safety training, Vehicle Inspection Reports and professional communication with Mechanics. (5%)
Other Duties, Responsibilities And Activities
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Must be able to obtain a passport. Attends and actively participates in driver safety meetings. Completes required D.O.T. reports and Ryder inspection forms.
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety Training
The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly push wheeled buggies weighing up to 1000 pounds when loaded approximately 40-50 times, per shift. Must regularly lift and move chcks boxes weight 50 lbs. approximately 45 times, per each delivery and will regularly slide stacks of boxes weighing up to 300 lbs. approximately 100 times, per ech delivery. While performing the
duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to sit while operating the truck, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate written and orally with customers.
Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, chemical gloves, and rubber boots are required.
Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants.
Safety: Will be trained to recognize and comply with all safety policies. Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include, but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
