Job Description:
As a Part-Time Dance Teacher, you will lead engaging dance classes for adults with disabilities. Your role will involve designing creative lesson plans that are adaptive to the varied abilities of participants, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and providing a supportive learning environment. You will work closely with other staff members to ensure the students' physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Responsibilities:
- Teach part-time dance classes for adults with disabilities in a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.
- Adapt dance techniques and movements to meet the varying needs and abilities of students.
- Foster a sense of community, respect, and teamwork within the classroom.
- Collaborate with other staff members to teach other disciplines (art, theater, music) when necessary.
- Provide encouragement and positive feedback to students.
- Ensure that all classes are conducted in accordance with safety standards.
- Attend team meetings and participate in staff development opportunities.
- Assisting with student personal needs as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience teaching dance (any genre) or working with adults with disabilities is preferred.
- A passion for dance and an understanding of how it can positively impact individuals with disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
