Job Overview
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves conducting regular safety inspections, investigating incidents, and providing training to employees on safety procedures. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate with management to identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and continuously improve the organization's safety protocols to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
· Assist in developing and enforcing safety policies and procedures in compliance with regulations.
· Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
· Takes lead in investigating workplace accidents, near miss and recommend corrective actions/preventive measures under the direction of the Safety Manager.
· Provide safety trainings, assist in program roll outs, safety updates and changes to procedures.
· Maintain and update safety records and documentation.
· Collaborate with management and teams to identify potential hazards and implement safety improvements.
· Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety measures.
· Stay updated on new safety regulations and industry best practices.
· Conducts new hire training.
· Provide safety training to employees on various topics including but not limited to hazard recognition, PPE, and emergency response.
· Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors
· Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees
· Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
· Maintain records of safety training and incidents.
· Collaborate with management to address safety concerns and make recommendations for improvement.
· Monitors compliance of safety programs through audits, inspections, spot checks, and regular plant walk-throughs.
· Inspect equipment, working conditions, and maintain OSHA files and supporting documents.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Spanish Bi-lingual a plus
· Knowledge of safety principles and best practices in a warehouse
· Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
· Must have a well-developed attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills
· Strong knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations.
· Team-oriented, service-focused attitude
· Flexibility in duties and assignments
· Ability to work overtime.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
