What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Cobleskill Value Added?
Irving Forest Products Cobleskill Value Added is looking for someone to join our Maintenance Team. We are looking for full time, dayshift or night shift employees who are able to work in a team but also be capable of working independently. This person must be able to work safely and follow instructions. Preform scheduled maintenance and installations and also trouble shoot mechanical problems to assist production needs.

- Rate of Pay: Based on experience, subject to proof of skills and probationary period.
- Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Machine troubleshooting, repair, assembly, preventative maintenance
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Reading blue print and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications
- Repair or replace chains; belt conveyors; gear boxes/drive chains; hydraulics & pneumatics; welding/cutting; and using power tools
- Education Required: Mechanical Engineer Tech, Associate’s Degree or Trade Certification
- Years of Experience Required: 2 - 5 years of experience in maintenance in an industrial environment. Wood products experience is desirable
- The successful applicants will have experience working with stationary equipment used in some type of production process
- Have the ability to work in a team environment that is committed to working safe, while focused on improving production and maintaining quality standards
- Previous sawmill experience and welding certification are assets
- Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting is required
- Strong interpersonal skills are required
- Must be able to work within a team and independently
- Ability to work shift and weekend work
