CNC Machinist
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Is able to make minor changes in machine programming to compensate for tool wear, operating temperatures, etc.
- Exhibits good skill in reading drawings. This includes basic understanding of GD&T nomenclature and other markup notes.
- Is able to complete setups on manual machines and is able to follow through a complete work order (drawing to finished part) on a manual machine.
- Basic Lean Knowledge. Knows the basics of waste reduction and continuous improvement and is consistently applying those to their job.
- Demonstrated ability to setup and run standard work orders on all of the company’s CNC equipment (Mills, Lathes, etc). This includes setting up tooling, setting up fixtures, using CAD data to construct tool paths, and maintaining consistent quality throughout the run.
- Exhibits the ability to pick appropriate tooling for each job that provides the best combination of speed and quality.
- Is expected to maintain set up records for each job in the form of annotated pictures, tooling notes, and proper programming documentation.
- Shows the ability to communicate effectively with Engineering and Assembly.
- Must demonstrate the concepts of preventative maintenance including record keeping, regularly scheduled maintenance routings, and level scheduling between machines. Performance will be measured on overall machine condition, machine uptime, and documentation.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and carry out efficiency and quality improvements. This will require working with the management team to identify concerns and implement containment and permanent fixes on the floor. It also includes the ability to anticipate quality concerns (and fix them) before they reach the field.
Qualifications High School Diploma (or GED with High School Equivalence Certificate).
- Live tooling experience is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with CNC Mills/ Lathes.
- Must be able to work in a moderate/fast-paced, organized fashion, to meet customer deadlines.
- Must possess good problem solving skills, and be able to identify quality issues and bring issues immediately to the attention of leadership so as to contain defects.
- Must possess good interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills (verbal and written) and be able to read and understand information and ideas presented in written and/or verbal form, including work instruction
