CUSTODIAN
Supervisor: Building Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Assigned SchoolTerms of Employment: 260 Days; 8 hours/day

Nature of Work
Meets the custodial needs of the school district and is required to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the students, staff, and community of the Cobre Consolidated School District.
Duties and Responsibilities
●Open and secure building(s) as required
●Clean the school/building as required each day under the direction of the Building Principal
●Clean and remove trash from halls, classrooms, restrooms, gym, shower rooms, locker rooms, cafeteria lunchroom, offices, staff lounges, auditoriums, courtyards, school/building grounds, parking lots, strip, mop, and wax floors, clean walls, doors, and windows
●Remove broken glass where hazardous and replaces with emergency closure as needed
●Adhere to District’s adopted Code of Ethical Behavior
●Keep a neat and clean personal appearance
●Respond to emergency situations when required
●Work overtime when required
●Communicate on a regular basis with the Building Principal
●Maintain good quality of work performance while demonstrating economic use of supplies and proper care of tools and equipment
●Demonstrate safety precautions in job execution in order to minimize on-the-job accidents and follow proper safety procedures
●Exhibit professionalism by maintaining good attendance and adhering to established work schedule
●Comply with Code of Ethics, administrative directives, board policies, state and federal statutes and rules and regulations
●Communicate and display courteous and professional behavior toward students, the public, the Building Principal, School and District Administrators, staff and peers.
●Safeguard the confidentiality of information pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable state and federal statutes
●Evenings and weekend work may be required
●Perform such other tasks as may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
1.High school diploma or equivalent
2.Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License and have reliable transportation
3.Must pass background check
4.Verifiable work and character references
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Knowledge of: various machines and equipment including but not limited to computer, telephone, instructional technology.
Ability to: understand oral and written instructions; motor coordination required to coordinate eyes, hands and fingers when operating machines and equipment essential to the job; manual and finger dexterity required to operate machines and equipment precisely and rapidly.
Environmental and Physical Factors:
Work is often performed indoors; may occasionally work outdoors; may be exposed to contaminants, such as cleaning solutions; may be exposed to diseases and infections.
