Job Description
The Specialist - Payroll is responsible for ensuring the processing of payroll is completed correctly, including data entry, calculation, verification, processing and corrections, efficiently and in a timely manner.
What your day will look like:
- Ensure payroll practices meet UNITED and government compliance
- Process payroll utilizing detailed checklist
- Enter wage types utilizing specific guidelines
- Perform weekly and monthly payroll audits
- Coordinating and processing various payroll transactions
- Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Researching payroll errors/discrepancies
- Maintain and process garnishments which includes entering, verifying, remitting, and responding as requested
- Utilize written and electronic reference materials to navigate common payroll practices and questions
- Answer queue calls and assist customers with various payroll and non-payroll issues
- Responsible for communication with Human Resources and UNITED managers regarding payroll processes or issues
- Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management
What you need to succeed:
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
- Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
- Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
- Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
- Ability to demonstrate independence, analytical skills, and strategic thinking
- Effective communication skills
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred
- 1 to 3-years payroll experience and/or training required
- Knowledge of garnishment experience preferred
- Knowledge of SAP preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred
- Excel experience required
- Regularly sitting, typing, and keying
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing up to 50lbs
- Ability to demonstrate problem solving, planning, organization, customer service, dependability, initiative, teamwork, communication, and adaptability skills
