Position Summary: The Associate Faculty of English is responsible for providing an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing instruction of developmental and college-level English courses for majors and non-majors district-wide. Instruction is provided via a variety of media, including face-to-face courses, blended learning, and online throughout Cochise County and our entire services area.Essential Functions: As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.Note: Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at any time.Compensation: $900 per equated credit unit

Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom, laboratory, or in an online environment Develops, prepares and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses and plans for students’ educational and social needs Completes all college and department reports on or before the due date/time Responds to communications from students and colleagues within 48 hours Collaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the appropriate Department Chair, Dean, or other College official Performs other related duties as assigned General Expectations: Employees are expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with students, faculty and staff, and the public. Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under limited supervision in a typical classroom, laboratory, office, or online setting, with appropriate climate controls. Evening or weekend work may be required. Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. May require travel, working evenings and weekends. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important Reports to: Dean of Liberal Arts
