What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assessor Technician - Bisbee position at Cochise County?
Under close supervision, performs office and clerical work of moderate difficulty related to property appraisal, deed transfers and assessor property records; performs related work as required or assigned.(Illustrative Only) Search records for information and disburse information; process documents to update and maintain parcel files, property ownership, and records for appraisal section; assist in identifying and resolving errors in legal descriptions and ownership; process appropriate instruments to complete splits or combination of parcels; train new employees in processing title changes; assist public in use of office microfiche and computer facilities; answer incoming calls; receive, sort, file and retrieve forms, correspondence and documents; maintain charge account records, cash control and accounts receivable; compile reports and summaries of work; update, check and complete records, forms and documents; operate a variety of office equipment.
Two (2) years general clerical experience; OR, an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of this classification; must successfully complete an "Introduction to Property Tax" course within twelve (12) months of employment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:- cross-index filing methods;
- business English spelling and arithmetic;
- office practices and procedures;
- computer applications;
- Arizona property tax system;
- legal descriptions of property;
- use of Assessor's maps;
- fundamental assessment procedures.
Skill in:
- operating standard office equipment;
- operating word and data processing machines.
Ability to:
- accurately transfer information from field notes;
- draw assessment parcels to scale;
- understand legal documents related to transfer and ownership of property;
- read and understand Assessor's maps;
- perform clerical tasks with speed, accuracy and understanding;
- make accurate mathematical computations;
- maintain records and prepare reports;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
- follow written and verbal instructions;
- read, write and speak English;
- communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
