ANTICIPATED RATE OF PAY - $19.23 hourly plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.

LEGAL SECRETARY I
Under direct supervision performs paraprofessional work of routine difficulty in a variety of legal secretarial and office duties; performs related work as required or assigned.
LEGAL SECRETARY II
Under general supervision performs paraprofessional work of moderate difficulty in a variety of legal secretarial and office duties; performs related duties as required or assigned.

LEGAL SECRETARY I
Answers and directs incoming calls; formats and types letters, memoranda, and various legal documents from copy, rough draft, and dictating machine; files documents with the appropriate court; files correspondence, memoranda, and other legal materials; processes and logs incoming documents; interviews petitioners; provides disclosure information to attorneys; maintains calendars.
LEGAL SECRETARY II
Formats and types letters, memoranda, and various legal documents from copy, rough draft and dictating machine; files documents with the appropriate court; prepares confidential and sensitive documents; composes letters and routine court pleadings for lawyers; processes and logs incoming documents; interviews petitioners; provides disclosure information to attorneys; maintains calendars. LEGAL SECRETARY I
High School Diploma or equivalent; one (1) year clerical office experience which includes the use of legal terminology; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance; type 60 wpm.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
LEGAL SECRETARY II
High School Diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of experience as a legal secretary; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance; type 60 wpm.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered. LEGAL SECRETARY I
Some knowledge of:
- business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammatical usage;
- modern office practices, procedures, and equipment;
- legal terminology and legal forms.
Some skill in:
- the use of a typewriter, word processor, and the taking and transcribing of oral dictation;
- data collection through personal interviews;
- using simple arithmetic, addition, and subtraction;
- carrying out instructions furnished orally or in written forms;
- giving simple oral and written instructions to other persons.

- operating professional level word processing systems;
- data collection through personal interviews.
Ability to:
- plan and carry out assignments;
- give oral and written instruction;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
- read, write and speak English;
- follow written and verbal instruction;
- communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
LEGAL SECRETARY I and II
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under varying degrees of supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Requires travel to other county locations as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
