RECORDING CLERK - BISBEE

HOURLY RATE: $15.18 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.

Under general supervision performs administrative work of moderate to difficulty in coordinating operations of the Recorder Division. Works closely with the Voter Registration Division of the Recorder's Office on matters related to voter registration and elections.As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Receives, sorts, indexes, files and retrieves forms, searches records, prepares correspondence and documents; compiles reports and summaries of work; examines deeds to determine legibility and adherence to requirements; receives and distributes correspondence; assists public in use of office microfilm and public access terminals; answers incoming calls; operates a variety of office machines; performs data input for recorder’s office and voter registration division; mails out and receives early ballots for elections; performs related work as assigned. High School diploma or equivalent; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. Must be a Cochise County registered voter at the time of hire and remain so while employed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals with one (1) year of experience in a public sector or general clerical setting.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.Knowledge of:
- business English spelling and arithmetic;
- clerical and office practices and procedures.
Working Skills of:
- operating standard office equipment;
- various computer applications; use word processing and spreadsheet functions;
- ensuring the security of all election related information, voting machines and supplies;
- perform duties with a high decree of accuracy and confidentiality;
- data processing and data management.
Ability to:
- follow written and verbal instructions;
- multi-task and work in an effective, organized and timely manner with frequent interruptions;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public;
- read, write and speak English;

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Required to work weekends, evenings and holidays during election cycles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, involves sitting, walking and standing regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
