TRIO Student Support Services Peer Mentor

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Peer Mentors play a key role in supporting fellow students as they transition into college life. Mentors foster positive and supportive relationships with their mentees, offering guidance, encouragement, and resources to help them succeed. The TRIO SSS program is currently hiring three Peer Mentors for the Lone Tree Campus in Flagstaff, AZ.

Mentors must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a professional, team-oriented environment. Applicants must be available during June and July to assist with summer programming. This is a temporary, part-time position (15-19 hours per week) and does not include benefits.

• Support mentees in developing the skills and confidence needed to transition successfully into college.
• Build and maintain positive, encouraging relationships with mentees through one-on-one and group mentoring.
• Maintain accurate and consistent documentation of mentee meetings.
• Assist mentees in navigating campus resources and connecting with off-campus support services.
• Help mentees feel engaged and connected to the Coconino Community College (CCC) environment.
• Conduct outreach efforts as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Peer Mentors should have knowledge of Coconino Community College and its available resources. Familiarity with mentoring strategies and effective college study skills is beneficial. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential. The ability to work independently while also contributing to a culturally diverse team environment is required.Applicants must be a current student or alumnus of Coconino Community College. They should have completed at least 25 college credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. Peer Mentors report directly to the TRIO SSS Program Director.
