The Coconino County Treasurer's Office is responsible for the safekeeping, disbursement, and investment of public funds on deposit with the office for over 50 different taxing districts. Tax districts include all county departments, schools, fire, water, sanitary, hospital, and other special districts. The department is also responsible for collecting and enforcing property taxes on behalf of all taxing districts located within the county. Annually, the department sees over $1 billion in receipts and expenses and currently has over $450 million in assets under management.
Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in the preparation and administration of the Treasurer’s budget; performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, and three years progressively responsible experience in governmental finance or budgeting; OR any equivalent combination of education training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
The Ideal Candidate will possess a high level of attention to detail and accuracy to handle financial reporting; problem solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
Preferred qualifications: experience in banking or financial institutions; experience with treasury software and systems to streamline financial processes and reporting.
This position is exempt from overtime.

Typical Duties

- Direct bank management operations to include daily cash administration and management of current accounts
- Perform timely reconciliation of bank accounts, with volume of reconciliation exceeding $1 billion annually.
- Review and approve all wire and ACH transfers; ensure transactions have appropriate documentation and authorization
- Assist Treasurer with debt service payments for districts and county
- Manage credit lines with servicing bank on behalf of taxing districts
- Review bank fees and provide monthly or quarterly reporting
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness of operational procedures and controls to maximize departmental productivity and minimize errors made by staff
- Maintain a backup for all financial data
- Maintain integrity and accuracy in financial transactions and reports
- Monitor county daily cash position to cover cash commitments and assist in the execution of daily cash management duties
- Act as a treasury liaison with servicing bank, county finance, and taxing districts in setting up new banking accounts, services, and handling bank inquiries and related matters
- Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation reports
- Coordinates the development of the Treasurer’s Office cost allocation/user fee schedule
- Reviews the work of others to verify accuracy and consistency
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
