Under direct supervision, the Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing home-based prevention services focusing on supporting the parent child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities for overburdened families; performs related work as assigned.

The hiring range for the position is:
Family Support Specialist I- $42,110.00 to $44,215.50
Family Support Specialist II- $45,560.25 to $47,838.26
Typical Duties
Family Support Specialist I :

- Conducts home visits virtually or in-person and assesses family needs and provides case management services, when necessary, while promoting self-sufficiency
- Utilizes child development curricula with each family and promote positive parent-child relationships
- Utilizes floor time to support play within the parent and child relationship
- Utilizes appropriate limit setting and boundaries
- Maintains necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with County and funding source requirements
- Participates in and comes prepared for weekly supervision with Program Supervisor.
- Coordinates with other community services
- Attends and participates in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in-service training and parent events
- Maintains all Healthy Families quality assurance standards, i.e. home visitation rate, etc.
- Participates in agency Continuous Quality Improvement activities
- Performs related duties as assigned

- Performs the duties of a Family Support Specialist I.
- Participates in a County, community or Healthy Families Arizona committee.
- Actively supports the Supervisor in onboarding new Family Support Specialists and mentoring with community resources, curriculum, home visiting and paperwork.
- Provides administrative support to Program Supervisor as assigned, including supporting case staffing management and chart reviews as assigned.
- Observe a Program Supervisor during weekly supervision with staff at least twice a year.
- Observe end of month completion at least twice a year.
- Remains up to date on best practices and emerging trends in home visiting programs and services.
- May be responsible for the development of additional trainings as required for the population(s) served.
- May be responsible for assigning and reviewing the work of others.
- Other duties as required by the County or the Program Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Family Support Specialist I:
High school diploma and two years of work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related fields of Nursing or Early Childhood education fields and one year of experience OR Three years’ experience as a Family Support Specialist I.
If promoting from a Family Support Specialist I position, the following must be completed before promotion to the Family Support Specialist II position:"
- Completion of Healthy Families America Quick Start, Stop-Gap, 12 months Wrap-Around, FSS Foundations for Family Support Core and annual Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging trainings.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to provide proof of education (i.e. High School diploma or equivalent or College degree/transcripts)
Must have a valid Arizona’s driver’s license, vehicle and have proof of a current and valid motor vehicle insurance. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
Must be eligible and able to obtain/maintain a level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
Must be able to be certified in CPR/First Aid.
Final job offer will be contingent upon a clear pre-employment drug test.
Preferred qualifications include, a Bachelor's degree in social work or related field of nursing, early childhood education or social services. Current or recent experience in the home visiting field. Bilingual in Spanish.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a growth mindset, has the capacity to quickly absorb principles and practices of case management, has social skills demonstrative of empathy and support, and has intermediate Spanish speaking abilities.
This position is safety sensitive.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
