The Coconino County Attorney's Office is seeking applications for a Law Clerk position in Flagstaff. This temporary role spans 10–12 weeks during the summer months (May–August).

Typical Duties
- Assist attorneys and clients with case preparation for court proceedings
- Research statutes, legal cases, and other sources for legal precedents and case applicability
- Ensures compliance with criminal and civil procedures in accordance with state and federal statute
- Maintains statutorily required confidentiality of case matters
- Compiles, annotates, and indexes provisions of statutes, cases, and administrative decisions
- Drafts legal documents
- Preparing and filing documents with courts both electronically and physically
- Gathers, reviews and verifies case documentation
- Preparation of subpoenas, monitoring and updating the case management system
- Assists and attends court hearings, depositions, and meetings with attorney as needed
- May involve occasional review of traumatic and graphic material
- Redaction of media and other materials for trial or disclosure
- Develops and secures evidence and documentation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position include but not limited to: sitting, walking, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending and crawling for filing; working with and around others; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist/elbow/ shoulder) for computer work, filing, copying etc.; vision acuity (near) for computer work and reading documents; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity and touch for typing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Mobility to work in a standard office and court system and use standard office equipment. Vision to read printed materials and a computer, and hearing and speech to converse in person and over the telephone.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of at least one year of law school.
Ideal Qualifications:
Completion of 2-3 years of law school.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.

- Considerable knowledge of:
- Business English, spelling and arithmetic, punctuation and grammar
- Office practices and procedures
