Under general supervision, performs work of considerable difficulty in the administration of network infrastructure, including LAN, Campus, Datacenter, Remote Sites, Cloud, and third-party network connectivity. Services include VoIP, Switching, Routing, VPN, Firewall, Virtual Networking, Wireless and related systems throughout the County; performs related work as assigned.
Please note: Presently, this position is up to 75% remote work and 25% minimum in office time. When working remotely, 1 hour response time is required for urgent IT matters and is subject to change at any time.
The full range for this position is $63, 556.00 to $93,428.00. Starting salary will depend on qualifications.
This position will require the successful completion of a Criminal Justice Information Services fingerprint and background clearance within 90 days of employment, this must be maintained throughout employment. (Illustrative Only)
Essential functions of this position include: walking; driving to various County locations, working with and around other staff and County employees; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand-wrist) for keyboarding; vision-acuity (near) for monitoring PC screen data; Color vision necessary for working with color coded cables; hearing and speech (ordinary conversation) for communicating with staff and customers; touch (finger dexterity) for keyboarding; Environmental hazards include electrical hazards associated with working with computers, servers and circuits, and potential for falls from ladders. Associate Degree in computer science or related field, with three years of increasingly responsible experience in telecommunications/VoIP and networks, including two years of systems management/administration; OR any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

The ideal candidate will have a positive "can do" attitude with a strong emphasis on customer service and hands on working experience deploying network switches, routers, firewalls, and security appliances.

- Implement, build, support and document enterprise infrastructure, including physical, virtual and cloud-based networks
- Provide technical expertise and hands-on capability to identify, prioritize, diagnose and resolve operational impacts to service such as outages, performance issues, capacity constraints, and network security risks
- Participate in the purchase, installation, and maintenance of network infrastructure equipment and software
- Work closely with the Information Security Office (ISO), to enforce standards, operational processes, and policies
- Participate in change management meetings to ensure production configuration changes are documented and approved
- Communicate with end users, stakeholders, and vendors to facilitate project implementation and problem resolution
- Ensure all network assets are responsibly maintained, inventoried, and/or disposed of properly
- Routinely update assigned tickets under your responsibility used to report, diagnose, and resolve customer reported issues
- Administer the operational aspects of VoIP, including voice mail, voicemail to email, call accounting, and enterprise phone related services
- Conduct routine backups of layer 2 / layer 3 configurations in support of disaster recovery plans
- Collaborate with internal teams in addition to external consultants and vendors in an effective manner in order to prioritize and resolve incidents and service requests in alignment with established SLA's and KPI's.
- Produce documentation supporting the current and future network architecture as needed
- Participate in cost analysis, supporting lead network administrator and/or operations manager with upcoming renewals or new infrastructure purchases

- Configuration, operation and support of firewalls including Next Generation Firewall's (NGFW's), IPS/IDS systems and centralized firewall management tools
- SolarWinds (IPAM, Network Performance Monitor, & Network Configuration Manager)
- Visio and network topology documentation tools
- Asset Management
- Understanding of LAN, WAN, VoIP and routing technologies such as 802.1q, VLAN, EIGRP, BGP, VPN (L2L, SSL, GRE), HSRP/GLBP, multicast and QoS
