Manufacturing Controller - Defense Industry

Summary: Controller is responsible for all financial reporting & analysis, financial strategy, internal controls, as well as developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accuracy in financial statements. Cocoon is seeking an individual with experience as a Manufacturing Controller in the defense industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead finance/accounting functions.
• Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Train personnel periodically to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for monthly reporting.
• Responsible for the month-end and year-end close process.
• Maintains accurate account reconciliations.
• Assists shared services to ensure all Accounts Receivable are collected promptly, and Accounts Payable are paid in a timely manner.
• Assist in forecasting and budget planning.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Responsible for handling the inventory accounting function.
• Will assist in the IT interface.
• Additional controller duties as necessary.

• Ability to multi-task, work independently, lead a team, and prioritize tasks, honor rules of engagement and follow policies, processes, and procedures.
• Experience in closing month end
• Experience with creating financial statements.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Prior experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
• Prior experience with ERP implementation.

Qualifications:

• Proven working experience as a Controller, preferably in manufacturing environment.
• Proven working experience as a Controller in the defense industry.
• 8-15 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience.
• CMA or CPA certification preferred.
• Excel expertise required.
• Experience with Sage Intacct or modern ERP system required.
• Prior experience with ADP or other payroll systems.
