At COCOON, we have engineered a simple step-by-step approach for our customers to achieve their dreams of home renovations. Stage #1 is Architecture. Stage #2 is Interior Design where the customer relies on our team of designers to help them select the specific hard finishes for their renovations, including cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, hardware, plumbing and lighting fixtures, paint colors, and more.

The Opportunity


The General Manager, reporting directly to the President of COCOON, is a key member of the leadership team responsible for overseeing all day-to-day business operations. This position is ideal for a kind, passionate and growth-oriented leader who can combine analytical skills with exceptional emotional intelligence to build strong relationships across the organization.


The GM will work directly with the President focusing on current-year execution while the President concentrates on the company's 3-5 year vision. You'll be responsible for Marketing, Sales, Construction Management, Design Management, Finance, and Human Resources, ensuring the company meets or exceeds its financial and operational targets.

Essential Functions


Leadership and Team Management:


  • Effectively collaborate with the President in implementing organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs
  • Lead and oversee the Leadership Team, providing clear direction and ensuring alignment with COCOON's vision, mission, and goals
  • Build authentic relationships with team members at all levels
  • Foster a high-performance culture by providing consistent mentorship, setting clear expectations, and guiding team development
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth with each leadership team member
  • Hold leadership and management accountable for meeting set goals
  • Create a culture of accountability and excellence through effective communication
  • Make confident decisions and implement solutions to complex challenges
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing data and metrics from multiple sources
  • Develop and implement strategies to build trust, encourage ownership, and empower team members
  • Establish collaborative working relationships across departments for issue resolution
  • Identify key leadership development opportunities for high-potential individuals


Operations & Financial Management:


  • Drive operational excellence through team development and process optimization
  • Spearhead operational excellence by identifying inefficiencies and streamlining processes
  • Manage and oversee the company's annual budget, ensuring effective resource allocation
  • Maintain deep understanding of critical metrics
  • Monitor critical financial and operational metrics and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Guide weekly financial meetings with leadership to review KPIs and progress
  • Finalize monthly financial statements
  • Develop and track KPIs across all departments to align with company goals
  • Master COCOON’s unique project flow process and drive continuous improvement


Education, Experience, and Skills Required


  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in business administration preferred
  • 7 years of management experience with progressive leadership responsibility
  • 5 years of experience as a direct supervisor hiring people and conducting reviews
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding company goals and objectives
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Strong delegation skills with good judgment on when to delegate
  • Residential/commercial construction experience desired
  • Excellent managerial skills and ability to lead collaboratively
  • Robust financial skills including budget administration and accounting
  • Experience developing strategies to support rapid growth
  • Strong business acumen and exemplary work ethic


Compensation 


  • Competitive compensation package ($225,000-$250,000 base plus performance bonus)
