What are the responsibilities and job description for the JOM Teacher (Temporary) position at Cocopah Indian Tribe?
Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Education Coordinator. Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a Summer Education Program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a curriculum for two summer sessions, one for elementary age students and the second for high school age students.
- Develop and implement a curriculum to develop academic skills for both the elementary and high school students.
- Develop and implement a program with local speakers (Tribal Members) to expand student awareness of their native culture with the assistance of the Cocopah Museum and Cultural Resources department.
- Must be available to attend education committee meetings.
- Develop and implement an arts and crafts program and to introduce traditional cultural awareness and appreciation.
- Plan and coordinate special activities and field trips related to the summer curriculum.
- Supervise, monitor, and teach students in academic development skills, cultural awareness.
- Implement environmental program focusing on awareness of native culture.
Supervise the Teacher Assistant.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Qualifications
- Must have strong organizational skills, i.e. planning, coordinating, and working with students and professional staff.
- Must be aware and sensitive to community education needs.
- Level I Fingerprint Clearance card required.
- Must be able to pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background check.
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain upon hire.
Education and/or Experience
- Associates’ degree in related field, 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement leading to bachelor’s degree
- 1-year work specialized work experience or, 3-year work experience in related field or 3-years supervisory work experience
