JOM Teacher (Temporary)

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Education Coordinator. Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a Summer Education Program

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop a curriculum for two summer sessions, one for elementary age students and the second for high school age students.
• Develop and implement a curriculum to develop academic skills for both the elementary and high school students.
• Develop and implement a program with local speakers (Tribal Members) to expand student awareness of their native culture with the assistance of the Cocopah Museum and Cultural Resources department.
• Must be available to attend education committee meetings.
• Develop and implement an arts and crafts program and to introduce traditional cultural awareness and appreciation.
• Plan and coordinate special activities and field trips related to the summer curriculum.
• Supervise, monitor, and teach students in academic development skills, cultural awareness.
• Implement environmental program focusing on awareness of native culture.

Supervise the Teacher Assistant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Qualifications

• Must have strong organizational skills, i.e. planning, coordinating, and working with students and professional staff.
• Must be aware and sensitive to community education needs.
• Level I Fingerprint Clearance card required.
• Must be able to pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background check.
• Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain upon hire.

Education and/or Experience

• Associates’ degree in related field, 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement leading to bachelor’s degree
• 1-year work specialized work experience or, 3-year work experience in related field or 3-years supervisory work experience
