What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Coda Staffing?
Driver (temp-to-perm)
New York City
The Company
Our company home-delivers nutritious, medically tailored meals for people in the NYC-metro area that are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. To support the health of our clients, we also provide ongoing nutrition assessment, education and counseling.
Role, Responsibilities and Daily Timeline
- Our drivers represent our organization in the community. Drivers need to possess strong customer service skills as they will be delivering to individuals who are severely ill and must show a sense of compassion and understanding.
- A typical day for the driver starts between the hours of 5:30 - 6:30 am when they pick up their vans from our lot on 10th Avenue, bring the van to the loading dock at our building on lower Sixth Avenue and load their vehicles. Loading may take up to an hour, and requires the Driver to lift, move or push up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Some of our clients live in walk-up buildings, and our deliveries are required to be to the client’s door.
- Drivers are usually out on the road by 7:00 am. They typically return to our headquarters between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00pm.
- The typical route consists of 40 – 50 individual stops in one of the five boroughs of NYC. Drivers are given cell phones to call clients as they are arriving to their home. If a client is not home to accept the delivery, they are to call into the office and bring the food back to base.
- God’s Love has instituted social distancing protocols for delivery which include leaving the food outside the client’s door, stepping back and waiting for the client to take the food before leaving to make their next delivery.
- After returning to base from their route, Drivers clean their vans and then return the van to the 10th avenue parking lot.
