Job Description:

Years of experience: 5 to 8 years

Primary role: Linux (Debian & RedHat) System administration

Secondary role: Research & Development

Primary role job description:

• System Administrator to maintain the primary compute infrastructure that serves a Telco Platform Software lab.

Tasks include:

• Installing new HW systems and network cards

• Setting up and maintaining networking and routing to the systems

• Maintaining accounts and remote access for the systems

• Maintaining a set of virtual machine Servers on a blade cluster

• Responding to team requests to adjust cabling and connectivity

• Maintaining tape based backup system

• Serving as single point of contact to the EGSL lab management

• Administer Spirent network test generator HW

• Manage Fibre Channel storage arrays

Secondary role job tasks:

NFV Virtual Network Function Research & Development:

• Perform low-level performance characterization and analysis of Telco-related platform SW and HW

• Analyze DPDK packet processing performance on various HPE server platforms and vendor partner network interface cards

• Analyze virtual network function SW and HW assisted performance

• We are looking for an engineer with a CS degree who is also willing and able to handle system administration of 20 racks of equipment

• we believe a successful candidate will need a CS background to handle the engineering aspects of the job

• our setup is dynamic with some home-grown open source based tools, so we are looking for more than a pure SysAdmin with a CIS degree

Required experience includes

• Expert at Linux system administration

• Familiar with Linux network routing

• Comfortable installing and maintaining HW platforms and PCI cards

• Familiar with virtual machine setup and maintenance

• Familiar with Bash and Python scripting

• Familiar with Debian/Ubuntu packaging

• Familiar with Linux Source code

Desired experience includes

• HPE server management experience

• Proxmox virtual machine environment

• Experience with Telco network software including NFV and DPDK

• Familiarity with operation and configuration of SmartNIC acceleration or FPGA add-on cards, or willingness to learn
