What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at CODES?
The Custodian completes routine cleaning of CODES's facilities, equipment, and grounds. This position performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and cleaning and restocking restrooms. Hours are M-F 6am - 230pm.
- Cleans and performs services in assigned areas in the Facility's buildings/rooms.
- Maintains enough stock and supplies to perform daily tasks.
- Sweeps, mops, and vacuums in assigned areas, as needed.
- Cleans restrooms, offices, and replenishes supplies.
- Picks up trash, empties garbage containers, sanitizes trash containers, and removes trash for disposal.
- Cleans and polishes brass, silver, glass, and drinking fountains.
- Operates polishing machine, carpet machine, and vacuum cleaner.
- Cleans rooms, monitors for wear and tear, and reports any damage or repairs, as needed.
- Prepares table linens and sets up space for various events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check.
- Must be able to communicate with CODES Team effectively and professionally.
- Must perform under high pressure situations.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high stress situations.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to stay focused.
- Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

- Must be available to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have experience performing the same or substantially similar duties.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
- Must be able to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time.
- Must be able to work in bright/hot/humid conditions.
- Must be able to work in low light situations.
- Must be able to lift, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, use hands repetitively, grasp using hands, and maintain visual activity.
- Exposure to limited hazardous chemicals.
