Cloud Architect

Who We’re Looking For:

Cloud Architect residing in Michigan within a commute of Lansing. Relocation not allowed. Must be able to interview in person and work hybrid in Lansing, MI.

The Cloud Application Architect will be responsible for designing and optimizing application architecture to align with business needs while ensuring sustainability, cost efficiency, security, compliance, and strategic alignment. The role involves integrating cloud infrastructure with various systems, including Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software, Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, web services, and applications. This role requires expertise in cloud-based application architecture and the ability to provide technical guidance to development teams. The ideal candidate will promote best practices in usability, security, maintainability, and reusability while collaborating with key stakeholders. The position operates with minimal supervision and involves direct engagement with program managers and IT oversight groups. As a Cloud Application Architect, you will analyze technical and business challenges, recommend strategies, and implement technology solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture & Strategy

• Lead the development and implementation of cloud-based architectures, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT best practices.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-level application models for system modernization initiatives.
• Conduct architectural design reviews and recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
• Oversee the integration of applications and services across multiple platforms, ensuring seamless functionality.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with developers, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of cloud solutions.
• Act as a technical advisor to teams, promoting knowledge-sharing and best practices in cloud computing.
• Support the evaluation of third-party software for potential integration.
• Guide and mentor team members in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient solutions.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure that cloud implementations follow security best practices and comply with relevant policies and standards.
• Contribute to the development of secure coding and authorization strategies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats and recommend proactive measures.

Technical Implementation & Innovation

• Design and implement distributed applications using a microservices architecture.
• Utilize observability and distributed tracing to enhance system performance and troubleshooting.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline cloud deployments.
• Research and introduce emerging cloud technologies to improve efficiency and innovation.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain detailed documentation of cloud architectures, frameworks, and best practices.
• Provide clear technical guidance through written instructions and reports.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5 years in cloud application development and architecture.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in .NET, HTML, XML, SQL, SOAP, REST, PowerShell, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Microsoft Azure, and Function Apps.
• Infrastructure as Code: Experience designing and implementing IaC solutions.
• System Architecture Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, web-based applications, and client-server systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, API integrations, and secure coding principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in high-pressure environments.
• Experience working in a collaborative, team-based setting.

Codeworks, LLC discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is near $80/hr. This rate is subject to change based on job-related factors, including client requirements where applicable.
